3,000 Metis DAO users to release NFT painting ‘Restoration of the Tower of Babel’

The Metis DAO project launched the campaign ‘Restoration of the Tower of Babel’ — the first NFT in the world to be formed and issued by the project’s community. Organisers will sell the token on the OpenSea marketplace.

The NFT painting ‘Restoration of the Tower of Babel’ was created by Matt Veg, founder of the NFT marketplace NFTStore.top. It consists of 256 fragments. During the campaign, users will form Tribes to claim and reveal these fragments.

The campaign will run in five stages:

1. Airdrop. Participants register on the Metis DAO site and receive cards with a hash rate of 1x or 3x. With them they mine Metis tokens from the rewards pool.
2. Self-organisation. Card owners form Tribes consisting of up to 15 people. Users invite referrals on Twitter and Telegram. The more participants, the higher trust in the tribe [Tribe Trust]. The trust level affects the amount of Metis tokens mined by tribe members.
3. Release of the NFT painting. The tribe creators assert rights to fragments of ‘Restoration of the Tower of Babel’. For this they submit claim transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. The first 256 tribes will receive painting fragments — Shard NFTs. The remaining tribes will receive Metis NFTs, which can be used for staking on the platform.
4. Auction. Metis DAO lists the NFT for auction on OpenSea.
5. Reward distribution. Tribe-owners of fragments share 70% of the proceeds from NFT sale. The author of the painting receives 30% of the funds.

According to Metis DAO CEO Elena Sinelnikova, the aim of the campaign is to unite users and demonstrate the flexibility of NFTs.

“Web 3.0 has returned power to users, made finance accessible, and helped unite the world. We are people of different cultures, speaking different languages, but with decentralised collaboration we can achieve incredible results. Metis wants to show how much small communities can accomplish when they come together.”

The Metis DAO project is developing a scalable second‑layer framework on the Ethereum blockchain. The framework will serve as a scalable foundation for a decentralized finance ecosystem.
