AI Advances Early Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease
Scientists at the University of California have discovered a method to predict Alzheimer’s disease seven years before symptoms appear. They utilized machine learning to analyze patient histories.
The study highlighted the potential of AI in identifying patterns in clinical research. Conditions such as high cholesterol and osteoporosis were most influential in predicting Alzheimer’s disease.
“This is the first step towards using artificial intelligence in routine clinical data not only for early risk detection but also for understanding the underlying biology”, stated lead author of the study, Alice Tang.
Researchers hope that in the near future, their work will expedite the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other complex diseases.
Back in September 2022, it was reported that the neural network Voice as a Biomarker of Health was developed, capable of analyzing patients’ voices for diagnosing and studying diseases.
