Gnosis Chain Activates BLOB Transactions Ahead of Dencun Launch

In anticipation of the Dencun upgrade on the Ethereum network, Gnosis Chain developers have activated BLOB transactions to scale the sidechain.

“Dencun is activated. Now you can use BLOBs to scale Gnosis or post funny pictures using blob.fm,” stated project co-founder Stefan George.

BLOB transactions will be launched on the Ethereum mainnet on March 13 during the hard fork.

A key component of the upgrade is EIP-4844. The proposal includes the Proto-Danksharding option, designed to scale the network by creating a new type of transaction for large binary data arrays (BLOB).

Dencun is expected to reduce fees for L2 solutions based on Rollups technology by approximately tenfold.

Gnosis Chain, formerly known as xDai Chain, operates as an Ethereum sidechain managed by GnosisDAO. According to DeFi Llama, the total value locked in the protocol exceeds $320 million. The network hosts major decentralized applications such as Balancer, Spark, Aave, and Aura.

In February, Polygon developers explained how Dencun will reduce fees in second-layer solutions and alleviate the high cost of data availability.
