Uniswap Labs Increases Swap Fee via Interface
Uniswap Labs has raised the token swap fee using the DEX interface from 0.15% to 0.25%. The changes did not affect trades involving stablecoins and wrapped tokens, reports The Block.
Users can avoid fees by using an alternative interface to access Uniswap.
On February 23, 2024, a nonprofit organization associated with the DEX published a proposal to distribute protocol fees among UNI holders. On March 7, the initiative passed a “temperature check” with 100% support.
The proposal suggests allocating rewards to token holders who have staked them or delegated their voting rights. The Uniswap Foundation may have reacted to criticism from the community about the lack of “utility” of the asset.
The increase in fees from 0.15% to 0.25% occurred on April 10, according to blockchain data. It was preceded by Uniswap Labs receiving a warning from the SEC about a potential lawsuit.
In September 2023, the head of the Commission’s enforcement division, David Hirsch, stated that the agency was examining the activities of certain DeFi protocols for potential legal violations.
