Utah Woman Faces Trial Over Bitcoin-Funded Murder Plot

A 23-year-old resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, Krista Renee Stone, paid $5000 in Bitcoin as a down payment for a contract killing. On June 15, the court will deliver its verdict in her case.

Stone has pleaded guilty to planning the crime. According to the US Department of Justice, from March to September 2023, she negotiated the murder arrangement, posting an advertisement on a dark web site.

She provided a detailed description of the victim, including a photograph, location, and method of execution.

The circumstances of her arrest and the identity of the victim have not been disclosed by the authorities.

In July 2023, a court in California sentenced 38-year-old Kristy Lynn Felkins for attempting to arrange the murder of her former spouse.
