Trump-Themed Meme Tokens Surge Following Assassination Attempt

On July 13, during a campaign rally, former U.S. President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt. Following the incident, meme coins associated with the politician experienced a surge.

The MAGA (TRUMP) token jumped 27% in a day to $7.92. Briefly, the coin’s price exceeded $10, with its market capitalization reaching $370 million. 

MAGA Hat (MAGA) also rose by 27%. The asset’s market capitalization is significantly smaller than the former, but it nearly reached $100 million. 

The Doland Tremp (TREMP) meme token on Solana added 30%, reaching $0.51. The coin’s market capitalization grew to $51 million. 

An official spokesperson for Trump’s campaign told Associated Press that the politician is “doing well” and is receiving treatment at a local medical facility. 

Meanwhile, on the prediction market Polymarket, Trump’s odds of winning surged from 60% to 70%. Confidence in incumbent President Joe Biden fell to 17%. 

Back in June, Trump declared himself the “crypto president” and criticized Democrats’ attempts at regulating the industry, promising to protect mining in the U.S. and worldwide.
