Economist Suggests Nobel Prize for Vitalik Buterin

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is considered a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Economics, alongside Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, although “the latter is no longer alive,” according to economist Tyler Cowen.

During a podcast with Cowen’s colleague, Alex Tabarrok, the experts compared Ethereum’s transition from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake to changing tires while a car is moving.

Cowen praised Buterin for his significant contribution to the cryptocurrency economy, emphasizing that his work far surpasses that of any other specialist.

“Vitalik built a platform, created a currency, effectively disproved Mises’s regression theorem, following in the footsteps of Satoshi (Nakamoto). My God, what does it take to win a Nobel Prize?” — Cowen wondered.

The economist also highlighted the positive personal qualities of the Ethereum founder and his focus on philanthropy.

The Nobel Prize in Economics winner will be announced on October 14.

Earlier, the creators of the HBO documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery named developer Peter Todd as the person who took the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto to create Bitcoin. He denied this claim.

Prior to this, members of the crypto community had strengthened their belief that the creator of Bitcoin was the late cryptographer and cypherpunk Len Sassaman. His widow dismissed this notion.
