Forcount Crypto Pyramid Promoter Sentenced to 20 Years

The leading promoter of the Forcount crypto pyramid, Juan Tacuri, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

He is also required to return over $3 million and the rights to a house in Florida.

“The Forcount scheme spanned the globe, ensnaring thousands of victims, including in the U.S., and primarily targeted the Spanish-speaking community. Tacuri was one of the scheme’s most successful promoters, earning millions from the fraud, which he spent on real estate and luxury items in Florida,” noted prosecutor Damian Williams.

Forcount claimed to be a cryptocurrency mining and trading firm. Tacuri deceived victims by promising to double their investments within six months. In reality, the firm neither traded nor mined cryptocurrency, and investors’ funds were used to pay other participants in the scheme.

In June, Tacuri pleaded guilty.

Earlier in October, the founder of the IcomTech cryptocurrency pyramid, David Carmona, was sentenced to 121 months in prison.
