Lisk Launches Mainnet and Announces Token Airdrop
Lisk developers have announced the launch of their eponymous layer-two solution on Ethereum and a token airdrop of LSK. Company representatives informed The Block of this development.
The new network will focus on tokenized assets (RWA) and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). According to the developers, transitioning to L2 will make the blockchain more accessible to users and simplify future network scaling.
To celebrate the mainnet launch, Lisk will conduct an airdrop of 15 million LSK tokens. The first round will commence on 21 November 2024 and will last for four months.
The claim amount for each user will depend on their activity on the platform. Developers will offer a series of tasks, awarding points for their completion. The number of points will determine the amount of distributed tokens.
“We designed this airdrop to be seamless, engaging, educational, and even fun, reflecting our mission to create easy-to-use and useful Web3 applications,” said Lisk COO Dominik Schwendimann in a comment to The Block.
Following the news, the price of LSK surpassed the $1 mark. At the time of publication, the token is trading at $0.95.

Established in 2016, the Lisk network initially existed as a classic L1 blockchain. In 2023, the team decided to transform into L2 and integrate with the Ethereum ecosystem.
The new network was built on the OP Stack framework from Optimism with the participation of the RaaS platform Gelato. Since February 2024, the L2 version of Lisk has been operating in test mode.
In October, Kraken exchange revealed details about its own layer-two solution, Ink, aimed at lending services.
