For those looking to gift an AI gadget this holiday season, journalists from CNBC have compiled a list of intriguing options, while Decrypt has developed a special bot for advice. 

Ray-Ban Meta

In 2023, Meta released the second generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses with AI support, and in September this year, they introduced an update for them.

With this gadget, users can take photos, listen to music, and request information from the Meta AI assistant about objects in view. Equipped with a microphone and camera, the device can recommend recipes while visiting a grocery store. 

In September, features such as reminders, translation, and integration with music apps were added.

Rabbit r1

The Rabbit r1 is a tablet-like miniature gadget priced at around $200, reminiscent of a Nintendo Switch. It is equipped with a camera and two microphones, capable of recording video clips, setting timers, helping recall past conversation topics, searching for information, ordering food, booking trips, and controlling music. 

The device is positioned as an “anti-smartphone” or a mediator between the user and digital services. 

Bee

Startup Bee has announced the sale of its eponymous AI device for $50. It resembles an internet-connected smartwatch or fitness band. The gadget functions as an advanced digital assistant.

The accessory has two microphones that allow it to listen and analyze information to provide conversation summaries and to-do lists. 

Integration with health apps and Google and Gmail accounts is possible.

AI Chooses the Gift for You

SantaBot is a Decrypt AI experiment. It can analyze communication history with friends and family to create personality types for suggesting unique and interesting gifts. For example, the bot might recommend a smartwatch in a spouse’s favorite color. 

“AI Santa” offers more daring options compared to ChatGPT and can pick up on subtle hints. 

To use the neural network, one must upload chat history, provide necessary contextual information, and ask clarifying questions.
