CoinShares Predicts Surge in Bitcoin Yield Strategies
The increasing use of Bitcoin by companies as a treasury asset is expected to lead to a proliferation of solutions for generating income from the cryptocurrency. This prediction was made by CoinShares experts in their 2025 forecast.

“This trend reflects a broader recognition of Bitcoin’s potential to serve not only as a store of value but also as a means of generating profit,” noted analyst Satish Patel.
He highlighted three main strategies:
- increasing reserves of digital gold relative to company shares;
- lending in Bitcoin at interest;
- alternative income-generating methods, including the use of derivatives based on crypto reserves.
Patel described MicroStrategy as synonymous with corporate Bitcoin investments. The company has accumulated 423,650 BTC (as of December 9) and implemented its own BTC Yield metric to assess the impact of cryptocurrency purchases on shareholder value.

Following MicroStrategy’s path, mining company MARA has used low-interest debt financing through convertible notes to acquire Bitcoin. In November, the firm raised $1 billion with a 0% coupon and reported a crypto holdings yield of 36.7% per share year-to-date.
Japanese firm Metaplanet, which has also adopted a similar strategy, has accumulated 1,142 BTC and actively generates income from options on digital gold.
“Throughout 2024, several large companies began accepting cryptocurrency as payment, indicating a potential trend towards including Bitcoin in their treasury reserves in 2025,” wrote Patel.
As examples, he cited Ferrari, as well as successful retailers like AT&T, Whole Foods, Home Depot, and AMC Theatres. Giants of e-commerce such as Amazon, Shopify, Nike, Expedia, and PayPal are also already involved in cryptocurrency through payments or investments, Patel added.
All of this expands the potential circle of corporate crypto reserve holders, whose numbers are expected to grow in the coming year, the expert predicted.
Earlier in December, MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor presented a Bitcoin strategy to Microsoft’s board of directors, which is expected to add $5 trillion to the company’s market capitalization.
