ChatGPT Faces Another Global Outage
On December 26, ChatGPT, Sora, and OpenAI’s API experienced their second outage this month. The services were down for over four hours.
Most of ChatGPT, the API, and Sora have been down for a couple of hours and we’re sorry for the trouble this is causing.
We’ve identified the issue and have started recovery. We hope to be back asap. https://t.co/YiG0F9YxNN

At the time of writing, all systems are operating normally. The company attributed the issue to a problem with one of their providers. Notably, the error did not affect popular services using OpenAI’s API, such as Perplexity and Apple Intelligence.
A similar incident occurred overnight from December 11 to 12, when the startup’s AI tools were unavailable for several hours.
Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Guardian reported that the new ChatGPT search system could mislead users.
The search engine is designed to speed up online information retrieval, such as providing a summary of product reviews on an e-commerce site. The publication found that ChatGPT search can be manipulated to ignore negative reviews and display only positive ones by embedding hidden text in created websites.
This approach could also allow the search engine to display malicious code.
Back in November, a crypto user known as r_ocky.eth lost $2500 due to ChatGPT recommending a fraudulent site while writing a bot for the meme token platform Pump.fun on Solana.
