Laser Digital sees a strong 2025 for crypto ETFs
Analysts at Laser Digital expect 2025 to be a strong year for crypto ETFs worldwide.
In its January Laser Focus report, the firm highlighted 12 applications from crypto exchange-traded fund issuers already awaiting review by the SEC. Among the anticipated launches are a ProShares ETF, as well as derivatives based on Litecoin, Hedera, XRP and Solana.
In their view, a change of leadership at the SEC will be a key driver of success in the American market:
“With the departure of Commission chair Gary Gensler and the arrival in his place of Paul Atkins (a staunch supporter of digital assets), lawsuits are likely to decrease, which will make the aforementioned ETFs viable later this year.”
In 2025, the crypto ETF niche will continue to grow alongside institutional interest. Crypto-friendly officials appointed by Donald Trump will be an important catalyst.
“[…] Nearly every type of institution is now represented among holders of crypto ETFs, including investment advisers, endowments, pension funds, hedge funds and family offices,” Laser Digital noted.
They also forecast positive momentum for the EU, driven by new crypto-industry rules under the MiCA legislation.
The experts noted that many countries are working on new, potentially favourable rules for digital assets, including the United Kingdom, the UAE, Hong Kong and Singapore.
On January 11, it was a year since spot bitcoin ETFs began trading in the United States.
