Russian Innovator Develops Crypto Boiler Using Antminer Devices
A forum user on “Habr” known as teamtimteam integrated a bitcoin miner into a home heating system, earning a net monthly income of 23,000 rubles.
The project took a year to complete. Since 2023, the enthusiast, alongside an engineer colleague, studied hydrodynamics literature, consulted with plumbers, and created 3D models of the future installation.
In November 2023, he purchased an ASIC miner Antminer S19 Hydro 151 TH for 135,000 rubles, with bitcoin priced at $38,000 at the time. Additional components and electrical work cost 29,000 rubles. The total cost of the crypto boiler amounted to approximately 164,000 rubles.
At the time of purchase, the system generated 35,000 rubles per month. Accounting for electricity costs of 12,000 rubles, the net profit was estimated at 23,000 rubles.
In 2024, teamtimteam constructed a sauna and equipped its heating system with an even more powerful ASIC miner — Antminer S19 Hydro 198TH.
“This project became not just a way to save money, but an exciting experiment. I combined technology with everyday life, and now my home not only stays warm but also generates income,” the Russian concluded.
Similar devices have been implemented since 2013 by Ukrainian bitcoin enthusiasts from the company Hotmine.
In April 2024, Finnish company Hashlabs Mining unveiled a project that allows the generation of heat using bitcoin mining devices to warm homes. A number of similar initiatives have also been launched by the American mining firm MARA.
