Trump Orders Development of AI Advancement Plan in the US

US President Donald Trump has signed a special directive aimed at “making America the global AI capital,” according to his aide, reports Reuters.

The document sets a 180-day deadline to develop an Artificial Intelligence Action Plan. It aims to establish policies “to maintain and strengthen America’s global dominance in artificial intelligence to promote human prosperity, economic competitiveness, and national security.”

Trump also instructed his AI advisor and national security aide to work on dismantling the policies and regulations set by former President Joe Biden.

During a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the politician confirmed plans to make the US a leader in AI and cryptocurrencies.

Earlier, Trump announced $500 billion in private sector investments for AI infrastructure, though experts have expressed doubts about the feasibility of such extensive funding.

Additionally, he revoked Biden’s 2023 directive aimed at reducing potential AI risks. The document required AI developers to share safety test results with the US government.

In his farewell address to the nation, Biden highlighted the advantages and risks associated with artificial intelligence.
