Virtuals AI Platform Revenue Plummets Seventyfold

The daily revenue of the AI agent platform Virtuals has plummeted from a peak of $976,748 in early January to the current $13,643, according to Dune data.

Virtuals, initially launched on Base, allows users to deploy their own AI agents. The project expanded to Solana at the end of January.

The price of the native token has plunged 89% during this period—from a peak of $5.15 to the current $0.56.

“AI agent platforms have recently been in a downward trend due to low liquidity caused by macroeconomic pressure, unproven utility, token oversupply, and a cooling of the traditional AI sector,” noted Kronos Research analyst Dominic John.

The largest agent on the Virtuals platform is AIXBT, which accounts for nearly half of the total market capitalization of all projects.

As of November 30, 1365 AI agents had been created using Virtuals. Since then, activity has gradually declined, with only one new project launched on March 10.

Blockworks Research analyst Dan Smith noted that the platform “wisely diversified its revenue streams.”

“Activity and revenue for Virtuals have fallen off a cliff along with most on-chain activities. No new agents were created yesterday.

But the team wisely diversified revenue through its own token. They now hold $12.1 million in cbBTC, which expands opportunities for product iterations,” he wrote.

Peak wallet activity for daily trading operations occurred at the beginning of 2025, reaching 58,641. Since then, it has decreased more than tenfold to the current 5,585.

The sector’s sharp decline followed an equally rapid rise. In early January 2025, the total capitalization of “AI-inspired” tokens reached $11 billion, with daily trading volume nearing $2.5 billion.

Meanwhile, Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi expressed confidence that AI agents will become the main narrative of the crypto community in 2025. At the same time, Bitget CEO Gracy Chen forecasted the sector’s growth to $60 billion.

Earlier in the month, Franklin Templeton experts predicted a “revolution” in content creation thanks to AI-based agents.
