NFT Collector Sells Rare CryptoPunk at a $10 Million Loss
A non-fungible token (NFT) from the CryptoPunk collection was sold for $6 million, although about a year ago it was purchased for $16 million.
One of the rarest pieces in the CryptoPunk series, #3100, changed hands for 4000 ETH (~$6 million). In March 2024, the same NFT was bought for 4500 ETH (~$16 million).

The collapse of Ethereum’s price led to the token’s value in fiat terms dropping by 62.5%.
According to CryptoSlam, last year’s sale was recorded as the third-largest single NFT transaction in history.
However, trading volumes for this and other top collections, such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Azuki, have been steadily declining since 2022.

In the first quarter of 2025, NFT trading volume declined by 24% compared to the last quarter of 2024, reaching $1.5 billion, according to a DappRadar report.
