World Liberty Financial Initiates USD1 Airdrop Vote

The DeFi project linked to the Trump family, World Liberty Financial (WLF), has commenced a snapshot vote among WLFI token holders regarding the proposal to airdrop the stablecoin USD1.

In April, the company proposed distributing a “small” amount of USD1 to native token holders to test the airdrop function within WLF’s Ethereum infrastructure. The distribution aims to increase the asset’s recognition and reward early project investors.

At the time of writing, 99.97% of votes (3.4 billion WLFI) support the proposal. The opposition comprises holders of approximately 951,700 tokens.

“Even if approved, World Liberty Financial reserves the right to suspend, modify, or terminate the test airdrop at any time, as well as to set any additional requirements for participants,” WLF cautioned.

In March, the project confirmed plans to launch the USD1 dollar-pegged coin. The stablecoin will be backed by short-term U.S. Treasury bills, deposits, and other cash equivalents. The asset will be issued on the Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain networks.

Donald Trump’s connections to crypto initiatives, including the creation of the TRUMP meme coin prior to the January inauguration, are raising increasing questions about a potential conflict of interest. The Senate has initiated an official investigation on this matter. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the relevant committee, has sent inquiries to WLF and Fight Fight Fight (issuer of TRUMP) demanding disclosure of the current president’s involvement in the projects.

Previously, the Senate described Trump’s announced gala dinner for TRUMP whales as “exceeding any previous standards for impeachment.”

Later, it emerged that the president plans a similar event for wealthy crypto investors who have been his political sponsors.
