Crypto Mom Hester Peirce Named SEC Commissioner Through 2025
Hester Peirce will continue to serve as a special commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). According to statement by the head of the agency Jay Clayton, her nomination was approved for a second term.

The Senate vote on this matter took place on Wednesday, August 5. As a result, Peirce will remain in office until June 5, 2025.

U.S. President Donald Trump again nominated Hester Peirce to serve as an SEC commissioner in early June.
\n
Peirce has become known in the cryptocurrency community as the \”crypto mom\” thanks to her friendly stance toward cryptocurrencies and firms operating in the industry.
\n
Earlier this year she proposed an official plan for regulatory holidays for crypto startups. The initiative would allow not complying with SEC rules for three years after a token sale, enabling them to focus on developing decentralized networks and communities.
\n
She has also repeatedly criticised her own agency for what she sees as an erroneous approach to cryptocurrency regulation.
\n
In February, commenting on Wilshire Phoenix’s refusal to launch a Bitcoin ETF, she said the SEC not only constantly changes its own standards but also makes them binding only for products related to the first cryptocurrency.
\n
In July Peirce criticised the SEC’s stance on Telegram. In her view, the sale of Gram tokens did not violate securities laws.
