
Security Council warns of risks in deploying new technologies, including cryptocurrencies.
The Security Council of Russia named cryptocurrencies an innovative technology, but stressed that their use \”forms new information threats\”. The statement was made by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Oleg Khramov in an interview for \”Arguments and Facts\”.
He placed cryptocurrencies in the same category as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and the Internet of Things.
Possible threats associated with the use of these technologies, \”require deep scientific consideration,\” added Khramov:
\”For example, there is a need to work out the security of training processes in artificial intelligence technologies, the problems of increasing the resilience of cryptographic algorithms with the deployment of high-performance quantum computers.\”
According to Khramov, the search for solutions to potential problems should be undertaken by government agencies.
Earlier in the Security Council they stated that cryptocurrencies are actively used by terrorists to finance their activities.
