LINE launches cryptocurrency wallet and blockchain platform

LINE, operator of the eponymous Japanese messenger, has launched a cryptocurrency wallet and a blockchain platform for developers.

The LINE Blockchain Developers platform will allow issuing its own tokens, tokenizing assets, and launching decentralized applications (dApps).

According to the statement from LINE, the BITMAX Wallet is currently available only to users in Japan, where LINE is particularly popular.

In 2018, LINE announced the launch of its public blockchain Link Chain and a cryptocurrency named Link.

In the same year, the company launched the cryptocurrency exchange Bitbox in Singapore.

In 2019, LINE opened the cryptocurrency platform BitMax for users in Japan, approved by the local regulator.

This year the company closed Singapore’s Bitbox. In its place in the United States, a new global platform for crypto trading BitFront began operation.
