YouTube halts Bitcoin-focused livestream over ‘harmful and dangerous’ content

YouTube halted a Bitcoin price livestream for 'harmful and dangerous' content.

The YouTube administration interrupted the livestream of cryptocurrency blogger Sunny Decree, dedicated to Bitcoin’s price.

The livestream was halted due to the presence of ‘harmful and dangerous’ content, YouTube explained. The blogger was also warned that a repeated violation would lead to a one-week ban on using the service.

In December 2019, YouTube removed videos from more than 30 cryptocurrency bloggers, branding them as dangerous content.

The platform later said the block was due to an ‘moderation error’ and fully restored access to the content.

In late August 2020, YouTube switched to automated content moderation, which twofold increased the number of videos removed from the platform.

Meanwhile, fraudulent videos promoting free cryptocurrency giveaways were not only left unmoderated but also appeared among the service’s recommendations.
