Free TON distributed 19.6 million TON Crystals to partners and contest participants

On October 9, the Free TON community, a decentralized blockchain project based on the Telegram Open Network protocol, sent 19.6 million TON Crystals to contest participants and network partners.

The tokens went to 50 addresses, among them ambassadors of the project from various countries and creators of use-case cases for employing TON Crystals on various platforms.

As ForkLog reported, the CEO of TON Labs Alexander Filatov said that one of the key features of Free TON’s business model is the distribution of 85% of the total token supply to partners who enrich the blockchain ecosystem with relevant content and engaged users.

“Among them are projects with a fairly large user base, for example WorldChess, which counts over 150 million professional and amateur chess players. The project is now working on integrating the Free TON blockchain as a backend for recording game results and compiling transparent rankings. I think this is the most ambitious use case in blockchain history,” Filatov noted.

Among Free TON’s partners are the QAN game developers team, who decided to shift their tokenomics entirely to working with TON, a major Telegram bot Combot, the AdGram advertising platform, and others.

According to Filatov, partners are beginning to treat TON Crystals as a monetary asset that can be spent on development or used in an internal loyalty programme.

The average price of TON Crystals on OTC and P2P platforms is 40-50 cents, so the approximate value of the prize tokens reaches nearly $10 million.

Potentially, this could attract 200-300 million new users to the Free TON ecosystem, added Dmitry Goroshevsky, TON Labs’ chief technical officer.

“I think the unique system of decentralized governance, which we are developing, is beginning to realise its potential,” he said in a ForkLog interview.

Earlier in June, the Free TON team launched the Crystal Game contest, inviting validators to vie for the title of Master of the Game.

Part of the prize fund has already been paid, with validators gradually being added to the main network.
