Aztec unveils second version of solution to boost Ethereum privacy and scalability

The London-based startup Aztec unveiled the second version of the platform, which employs zero-knowledge proof technology to scale and enhance Ethereum privacy.

Today, we’re very excited to release Aztec 2.0, our Layer 2 zkRollup network 🚀 Aztec is building the infrastructure for scalable and programmable private payments on Ethereum, running off the DeFi capital system💸 https://t.co/Kj2fW4k2zQ

At the core of Aztec 2.0 are second-layer ZK-Rollups scaling solutions. The use of zero-knowledge proofs (zkSNARKs) enables aggregating transactions, increasing throughput to 300 transactions per second.

According to project representatives, their technology brings \”programmable privacy\” to Ethereum. The Aztec standard being developed, called PLONK, enables a two-level transaction processing system.

Also, zkSNARK makes transactions private, concealing the sender, recipient, and the transaction amount.

Additionally, Aztec introduced the Noir scripting language, through which developers can write zkSNARK transactions for the second version of the platform.

This week, the startup’s developers will launch a testnet for confidential sending of DAI and other ERC-20 tokens. The mainnet launch is scheduled for November.

In November 2019, Aztec привлек $2.1 million in a funding round led by the Ethereum incubator ConsenSys.

As reported earlier, the first version of the Aztec protocol was launched earlier this year.
