
Europol official questioned in Alexander Vinnik case
On Tuesday, October 20, the second day of hearings in the case of the Russian Alexander Vinnik, accused in France of extortion and theft of personal data, took place. His lawyer Frédéric Belo told TASS that he was satisfied with the progress of the case.
He said that Vinnik answered the judges’ questions for five hours and gave detailed answers, “provided numerous details and clarified a number of aspects of his activities.”
He also said that during the session an Europol representative was questioned. The latter described how the agency conducted the Vinnik case investigation jointly with the United States.
Vinnik’s defence expects the trial to conclude as early as Thursday, 22 October.
Hearings in the Alexander Vinnik case at the Paris correctional court began on 19 October.
