Unknown user paid a $47,000 fee for a Bitcoin transaction

On Wednesday, November 18, an unknown user performed a transaction of 0.01088549 BTC, for which they paid a fee of 2.66038352 BTC (more than $47,000 at the time).

Presumably, the owner of the bitcoins may have made an error in manual input. According to BitInfoCharts, as of November 18 the average fee was $4.82.

In June, an unknown user carried out two transactions with fees of 10,688 ETH (~$2.6 million). The first transfer amounted to 0.55 ETH, the second to 350 ETH.

Later in the Ethereum network another transaction with a large fee was recorded. The MiningPoolHub-linked address paid 2,310 ETH ($538,000) to transfer 3,221 ETH ($751,000).

Back in November, one Ethereum holder by mistake paid $9,500 to process a transaction worth $120.
