G7 nations back the need to regulate cryptocurrencies

Central bank governors and finance ministers of the G7 have reaffirmed the need to regulate digital currencies. This is stated in a statement говорится в сообщении from the U.S. Treasury.

Participants discussed the current measures being taken in response to the development of the cryptocurrency industry and other digital assets, “including the work of national authorities to prevent their use in illicit activity”.

“Ministers and governors reaffirmed support for the G7 joint statement on digital payments, which was issued in October,” the statement said.

Earlier, the G7 countries voiced opposition to launching stablecoins until they meet regulatory, supervisory and legal requirements. According to the finance ministers, inadequate regulation threatens financial stability and undermines market integrity.
