Pavel Durov: Telegram was the world’s most downloaded app in January 2021

The Telegram messenger became the world’s most downloaded mobile app in January 2021, according to the service’s founder, Pavel Durov.

Durov attributed the secret of the messenger’s popularity to a simple formula:

“Over the last 7.5 years we have consistently protected the privacy of our users and have regularly improved the quality and functionality of our apps.”

Earlier, Durov said that the number of active users of the messenger surpassed 500 million.

In the future, the service plans to monetize. Media reports said that Pavel Durov declinedinvestments in Telegram valued at $30 billion.
