Dozens of Russians became victims of a cryptocurrency pyramid on Instagram
During January, 28 residents of Tambov reported to the police a cryptocurrency fraudster who lured them into a financial pyramid. The local police said.
To each victim, the offender contacted them on Instagram under the nickname “Andrey Alekseevich”, offering quick profits from cryptocurrency — up to 150%.
Data: Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Initially, payments took 5 to 35 business days, depending on the amount invested. Users could not decrease the size of each subsequent deposit.
As the number of investors grew, “Andrey Alekseevich” stopped paying interest, deleted his account and disappeared.
Victims invested varying amounts—from 1,000 to 65,000 rubles. The total damage amounted to 400,000 rubles.
The police are currently trying to identify the perpetrator.
Earlier ForkLog reported that a resident of Mari El lost more than 1 million rubles trying to profit from cryptocurrency.
