Coin Center Receives $1 Million Donation From Jack Dorsey
The founder and chief executive of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, donated $1 million to Coin Center, the organisation promoting and defending the interests of the cryptocurrency industry.
Coin Center has received and incredibly generous gift of $1 million from @jack — we’re speechless. 😮
We were almost to our goal for the matching campaign when he put us over the top and then some.
Your confidence in our work is incredibly humbling.

The executive director of Coin Center, Jerry Brito, described Dorsey’s donation as “an incredibly generous gift.”
“We were nearly at our fundraising campaign goal when Jack helped push us over the expected total,” the executive wrote.
In January, Dorsey described the Bitcoin network as a benchmark for the Internet and reminded of the decentralized future pursued by the social network he leads.
Less than a day before the funds from the Twitter founder arrived, Brito said that the organization had received in full a donation of $1 million from Grayscale Investments.
I’m thrilled to announce that Coin Center has received donations to claim the amazing $1 million match from @Grayscale in full.
We’ve been stunned by the outpouring of support from the community. Thank you @Sonnenshein and team! 🙏
But there’s one more thing…

In 2017, Coin Center received more than $1 million from leaders of the Bitcoin industry. In 2018, the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken also contributed to defending the interests of the sector.
Earlier, at the end of 2020, Coin Center sought help in challenging the U.S. Treasury’s FinCEN rules on verifying users of non-custodial wallets.
