
In Ukraine, mining-farm operators stole mined cryptocurrency
The Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region has uncovered a scheme to siphon off cryptocurrency by tampering with computer systems and the local power grids, according to the agency’s press service.
Two local residents allegedly offered installation and maintenance services for mining farms to clients found among their acquaintances.
After the equipment was installed, the criminals siphoned off the mined cryptocurrency by unauthorized access to users’ online wallets.

During searches, investigators found nine mining farms and equipment illegally connected to the power grids.
The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, the Kyiv prosecutor’s office suspected a local resident of fraud and appropriation of bitcoins worth about 3 million hryvnias ($111,000).
