Kaspersky Lab links decline in DDoS attacks to rising cryptocurrency prices
In the fourth quarter of 2020, the total number of DDoS attacks fell by about 30% from the third quarter, according to data from Kaspersky Lab data. Specialists attribute this to the rise in prices of many cryptocurrencies.
Analysts note that botnet operators redirected some capacity to mining. The share of lightweight attacks fell, while the number of “smart attacks” did not decline significantly:
