CoinFlip adds Dogecoin support to 1,800 Bitcoin ATMs across 46 U.S. states
The operator of cryptocurrency ATMs CoinFlip added the ability to buy Dogecoin (DOGE) at 1,800 Bitcoin ATMs located in 46 U.S. states.

According to the press release, the company’s leadership sought to confirm the coin’s legitimacy. CoinFlip CEO Daniel Polotsky explained that the decision to add Dogecoin was driven by its growing popularity lately.
“We aim to make cryptocurrencies accessible to everyone who is interested in investing, even in the most remote regions of America,” the CEO added.
Started in 2013 as a joking digital asset, Dogecoin became popular thanks to support from Elon Musk. He repeatedly posted memes on Twitter featuring the altcoin’s symbol—a Shiba Inu dog.
In early February the Tesla founder posted a series of tweets about Dogecoin, which pushed the token price up by almost 50%. On Wednesday, February 24, Musk reposted a dog-themed image on Twitter—the coin’s price rose 20% in a day.
The billionaire also called Dogecoin his favourite cryptocurrency, and recently said that he bought the altcoin for his younger son.
Earlier Musk urged large holders of the asset to sell part of the coins to avoid centralisation. More than 28% of the token’s market supply, or 36.8 billion DOGE are concentrated on a single address.
On March 1 developers updated the software for the cryptocurrency for the first time in a year and a half. The main improvement was increased synchronization speed.
On March 3 Musk said he planned to create a new city named Starbase.
In 2020, the number of Bitcoin ATMs worldwide grew by 83% — to 11,689 in total.
