Roskomnadzor flags possible Twitter blockade in Russia within a month

Roskomnadzor will block Twitter in the Russian Federation if the social network does not remove prohibited content. The agency has given the company a month, said Roskomnadzor deputy head Vadim Subbotin, according to “TASS”.

“We gave it a month and are watching Twitter’s response to the issue of removing prohibited information. Depending on the actions of the social network’s administration, appropriate decisions will be taken,” he said.

If the service does not remove the prohibited information in Russia within this period, Roskomnadzor will consider a full blockade, he stressed.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor began slowing Twitter on March 10 due to the platform’s refusal to delete content deemed prohibited in Russia.

Twitter said that it is deeply concerned about the growing number of attempts to block and restrain public discussion on the internet.
