
Russian woman loses 6.7 million rubles buying a ‘laptop for mining bitcoin’
A Moscow woman handed scammers 6.7 million rubles for a laptop that allegedly could mine bitcoin. This was сообщает Telegram channel Baza.
In the summer of 2020, the victim explored opportunities for additional earnings, and an unknown man who presented himself as ‘a fixer with ties to senior officials and law enforcement’ approached her.
He offered to buy a laptop with a special program for mining bitcoin for 6.7 million rubles. The scammer explained the high price by its ‘uniqueness and lack of analogues on the market’.
After the transfer of funds, the ‘seller’ stopped contacting.
The police are investigating the incident.
