Binance hires former FATF chiefs as regulatory advisers
Former FATF leaders have joined the cryptocurrency exchange Binance as advisers on regulatory compliance and regulation. According to the company’s statement.
The trading platform’s team includes former FATF executive secretary Rik McDonell and the Group’s head of delegation in Canada, Jose Nado. They will help Binance maintain relations with regulators worldwide, and bolster its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing programs.
“Cryptocurrencies and blockchain are becoming widely adopted, and even traditional banking institutions are now offering crypto services. These new technologies will undoubtedly change the way people and organisations manage money,” McDonell and Nado said in a joint statement.
In March 2021 Binance hired as a regulatory affairs adviser to former U.S. Senator Max Baucus.
