Aksakov: the digital ruble is the ultimate form of money

At the end of 2021, Russia will begin testing the digital ruble, and in two to three years the electronic currency will be firmly integrated into payments,” stated Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma committee on the financial market.

“The digital ruble is the highest form of money at this stage,” he said.

Aksakov stressed that the risks for holders of digital rubles are minimal, as the issuer is known, “unlike cryptocurrencies”.

Earlier, Olga Skorobogatova, first deputy chair of the Bank of Russia, said that the digital ruble represents an an absolutely different quality of payments from the perspective of the budget sphere and social benefits.
