South Korea to launch blockchain-based vaccination certificates

South Korea’s Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun announced the readiness of a COVID-19 vaccination verification system via smartphone. The app will appear at the end of April. This was reported by Yonhap.

According to media, the new app uses blockchain to verify the authenticity of the vaccination certificate. Users will not be able to forge or replace information.

South Korean Financial News reported that the system uses corporate InfraBlockchain. The solution was launched by Blockchain Labs at the end of 2020 for corporations and the public sector.

Technical details of the Korean system have not been disclosed. The prime minister noted that health passports are designed for use abroad as well and conform to international standards.

HEMA stores network to deploy blockchain to track coffee supply chain

The Dutch retail chain HEMA will become the first major retailer to implement the Farmer Connect blockchain to track the coffee supply chain. This was reported by World Coffee Portal.

According to media, HEMA customers will be able to trace the supply chain of around 27 of the chain’s trademark coffee products, including beans, pods and capsules. To do this, scan the QR code on the coffee packaging — all information will be available in the ‘Thank My Farmer’ app.

“We are currently tracking 70% of our assortment and aim to offer coffee produced with complete transparency,” said Lian Enting of HEMA.

Boston Symphony Orchestra to launch secure blockchain-based ticketing

The Boston Symphony Orchestra has partnered with startup True Tickets to resume performances in summer 2021. Earlier they were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A mobile app built on blockchain will enable secure contactless ticket sales and guarantee the reliability of the data entered into the system.
