Rarible to release NFT collection featuring Oscar winners.

The non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Rarible unveiled the Nomine(eth) collection to mark the Oscars ceremony.

Winners in the five main categories at the 2021 Oscars will receive one of two NFTs. A second token will be auctioned for the public.

Among the nominations:

• Best Actor;
• Best Actress;
• Best Supporting Actor;
• Best Supporting Actress;
• Best Director;

According to the organisers, the idea is that only the Oscar winner and the auction winner will own such NFTs from the collection.

Nomine(eth) includes a “special tribute” to actor Chadwick Boseman, best known for his role as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

\n\n\n\n

On August 28, 2020, Boseman died in his 44th year of life from complications related to colorectal cancer. The organizers will donate all proceeds from NFT sales featuring the actor to the Colon Cancer Foundation (the Foundation for Colorectal Cancer).

Earlier, director, producer and actor Kevin Smith announced the release of his new horror film “Killroy Was Here” as an NFT.

Earlier, the Phillips auction house sold the self-reproducing NFT “REPLICATOR” for $4.1 million.

On April 17, a plain gray-pixel NFT by anonymous artist Murat Pak went under the hammer on the Nifty Gateway platform for $1.36 million.
