Forbes estimates crypto-billionaire losses from market plunge
Against the backdrop of market crash in cryptocurrencies, crypto billionaires lost a total of $15.5 billion, Forbes calculated. The publication assessed the losses of major players in the sector over the past nine days.
The biggest loss in dollar terms was borne by FTX head Sam Bankman-Fried. According to Forbes, on May 10 his fortune was valued at $16.7 billion, but after the market downturn it fell to $11.5 billion.
The Winklevoss brothers have lost $900 million each since May 10. Michael Saylor’s fortune fell by 45% to $1.8 billion.
Vitalik Buterin, due to the market crash, has lost billionaire status. Forbes estimates his wealth at $850 million.
Yet even in the current situation, the wealth of crypto billionaires remains higher than it was a few months earlier, the publication notes.
In April, Forbes’ ranking of the world’s richest people included 12 representatives of the cryptocurrency industry.
