
Moscow court fines Google 3 million rubles for failing to localise Russians’ data
A Russian court has for the first time fined Google for breaches of personal data legislation, writes RIA Novosti, citing the court’s press service.
The company was found guilty of failing to comply with localisation requirements for Russian users’ data on the territory of the country. The fine was 3 million rubles.
In 2020, for the same reason, Facebook and Twitter were fined — 4 million rubles each.
The Moscow court also ruled lawful the decisions in administrative offence cases for failing to remove prohibited content in relation to these two companies.
Roskomnadzor demanded a response from Google, Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp to the sent request regarding the localisation of Russian users’ data on the territory of the Russian Federation.
