Former Goldman Sachs executive joins Amber Group

The cryptocurrency company Amber Group announced the appointment of Dr. Dimitrios Kavvatas to the role of Chief Strategy Officer. The announcement was reported in the company’s blog in the blog of the company.

Dr. Dimitrios Kavvatas earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. For twelve years he held the position of partner and managing director at Goldman Sachs’ European regional headquarters, and then spent five years leading the firm’s equities division in Hong Kong.

“Dr. Kavvatas has extensive experience in derivatives and asset management. He will help us pursue initiatives to optimise the company’s financial structure,” commented Amber Group CEO Michael Wu.

Amber Group is a cryptocurrency company that provides asset management and liquidity provisioning services to institutional and individual clients, as well as investment products with yields up to 16% per annum.

In Q3 2020, Amber Group launched mobile apps for iOS and Android. According to company representatives, the app has more than 5,000 active users from Russia. They can reach the Russian-language support team via Telegram and Facebook.

In June, Amber Group closed a $100 million Series B round at a $1 billion valuation.
