CryptoPunk #6046 owner refuses to sell for 2,500 ETH
The owner of a non-fungible token (NFT) CryptoPunk #6046 declined an offer to sell it for 2,500 ETH ($9.49 million at the time of the bid).
Why I rejected a 2500 ETH ($9.5M USD ) offer from @poapxyz on CryptoPunk #6046
This could have been the largest ever on-chain NFT sale in USD, but I chose to reject the offer.

If successful, the deal would have been the largest sale in the CryptoPunks NFT history.
On October 15, the token’s owner, who goes by Richerd, wrote on Twitter that if 10,000 unique owners of 10,000 NFTs did not want to sell them, each NFT would become priceless.
Mate — everyone has a price.

He was told that “everything has a price.” However Richerd said that his “punk” is not for sale regardless of the offer.
My punk is not for sale. Don’t care what anyone offers me.

After that, he was offered 2,500 ETH. Richerd declined.
“My identity, together with the identities of other iconic punks and apes, has value beyond NFTs. We have our own brands, […] and this has value. Because I value personal branding and identity, I found it easy to refuse,” wrote the owner of CryptoPunk #6046.
I have huge conviction in the NFT space and in Punks. When it comes to NFTs space I think very long term.
To me, my brand, identity, and what I’m building in the NFT space will be way more valuable in the long run.

In response to suspicions of a scheme, Richerd noted that he does not know the user who placed the 2,500 ETH bid. They reportedly corresponded, but the token’s owner did not know about the offer beforehand.
For those asking. I do not know @worthalter of https://t.co/HakbCOT6JY who placed the bid.
We’ve had an email exchange and have mutual respect for each others companies, but I had no knowledge of the bid ahead of time and was free to accept the 2500 ETH offer if I chose.

According to The Block, over the past three months the average price of CryptoPunks tokens rose more than sevenfold, from $61,760 to $458,750.
In August, the NFT CryptoPunk sold for less than $0.01 due to a bug. The winner walked away with more than $75,000.
