Irkutsk resident detains suspect during attempted theft of cryptocurrency mining equipment

An Irkutsk resident detained a suspect attempting to steal his cryptocurrency mining equipment worth more than 1 million rubles.

According to the local МВД, the man found devices missing from his garage at night and saw the unknown person trying to conceal the stolen goods. The thief tried to flee, but the equipment owner caught up with him and held him until law enforcement arrived.

According to investigators, the suspect had accomplices, one of them a minor. It has been established that they are involved in at least four more similar thefts. The total damage amounts to more than 1.9 million rubles.

The organizer was placed under house arrest; the minor suspect is under an undertaking not to leave the country, the others were remanded in custody.

Earlier in September in the Irkutsk region detained suspects in the theft of ASIC miners.
