Animoca Brands and Binance Smart Chain Invest $200 Million in GameFi Development

The Binance Smart Chain (BSC) team and the operator of NFT games, Animoca Brands, will launch a blockchain incubator focused on GameFi-startups. The program envisions total investments of $200 million, VentureBeat reports.

The structure is designed to accelerate the mass adoption of blockchain technology. The parties have split investment responsibilities evenly — each will contribute $100 million to the program. BSC participates through its Accelerator Fund.

“The gaming industry is one of the main pillars of Web 2.0, reaching billions of users. Widespread real-world adoption makes it a key driver for mass crypto adoption to bring users into the Web 3.0 world,” said Gwendoline Regina, Investment Director of the Accelerator Fund.

According to the report, in 2021 the number of GameFi project users on BSC grew tenfold, and transaction volumes rose by 200%.

Animoca Brands also backed Matterless Studios, which is developing an AR application with virtual animal companions. In the digital environment they are represented as NFTs. The studio previously raised привлекла $1,25 млн инвестиций.

Earlier in November Animoca Brands and the custodial service Hex Trust announced the creation of a joint venture to develop an institutional digital wallet and launch financial services for gamers.
