
Court sentences former Saratov police officer caught mining
A court in Saratov found a former traffic police officer, who was mining at the workplace, guilty of exceeding official powers. This was сообщили in the local office of the Investigative Committee.
The former officer was fined 30,000 rubles and barred from holding positions in Russia’s law-enforcement agencies for two years.
According to the case materials, from December 2020 to July 2021 the traffic police officer placed mining equipment in a police station. The damage from illegally consumed electricity amounted to 231,000 rubles. The convict reimbursed this amount.
The officer was dismissed ‘for conduct unbecoming of a member of the internal affairs bodies’.
During the search, law enforcement officers found two ASIC miners, a Wi‑Fi router and three power supplies. The ex-policeman confessed to his guilt.
