Law enforcement authorities discovered mining farms illegally connected to the electricity grid in Dagestan.

According to the МВД, in May the head of the homeowners’ association installed mining farms in two non-residential premises in the settlement of Vremenny.

During searches, police discovered 749 mining devices, as well as magnets fitted to meters to understate the amount of electricity consumed.

The damage was estimated at 2.5 million rubles.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect.

Dagestan ranks first among the North Caucasus regions in the number of detected cases of energy theft connected to mining. Authorities began to fight illegal miners.
