
Binance reveals names of new directors in Russia and Ukraine
The cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced new appointments to further develop and strengthen its positions in Russia and Ukraine, ForkLog has learned from company representatives.
The position of GR-director in Russia and the CIS will be filled by Olga Goncharova. For the past seven years she headed the Department for Collection and Processing of Reporting at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. At Binance, Goncharova will handle systematic engagement with authorities, promotion of GR initiatives, and communication with associations representing the interests of participants in the financial market.
The Binance director in Russia is Vladimir Smerkis, co-founder of the Tokenbox platform for crypto funds and the Definition blockchain developers’ community. His main tasks will include expanding the exchange’s activities in Russia, working toward legitimising the industry in the country, and engaging with the developer community to advance Binance Smart Chain, NFT, GameFi and metaverse projects.
In Ukraine, the position of General Manager will be held by Kirill Khomyakov. Previously he worked on business development in Ukraine and Europe for the financial services provider Fiserv and was head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine. In the new role, Khomyakov’s tasks will include strengthening positions in the local market, implementing the global marketing strategy, and engaging with authorities and public organisations in Ukraine.
Gleb Kostarev, Binance’s Director for Eastern Europe, is convinced that the new leadership will strengthen Binance’s presence in Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
