Splinterlands users buy over 6 million Chaos Legion NFT packs in a day

On January 17, the Chaos Legion card-packs public sale kicked off in the NFT game Splinterlands. Project representatives told ForkLog that in less than a day users purchased over 6 million packs — more than 40% of the total 15 million supply.

Packs can be purchased with in-game currency (Credits), which is acquired with fiat (via PayPal or bank cards) or with cryptocurrency. Credits can also be exchanged for the project’s DEC and SPS tokens.

Each pack contains five cards, with at least one of them of rare quality or higher. With a small probability a gamer can draw a golden card, whose attributes are increased compared to a regular copy.

The developers also organized an airdrop system: players who bought packs during the pre-sale will receive rare cards in parallel with their release. For every one million packs sold, one card is distributed among the users.

“Splinterlands is thrilled with the game\’s progress. In one night we earned more revenue than in 2018, 2019 and 2020 combined. The growth is simply crazy. We are attracting new players and new money, which allows us to expand the team of creatives and developers,” said Jesse Powell, co-founder and CEO of Splinterlands.

According to DappRadar, Splinterlands is one of the most popular blockchain games. Over the past 30 days the decentralized application processed transactions worth more than $3.09 million. It is connected to over 600,000 unique wallets.

As ForkLog noted in 2021, GameFi tokens showed the most impressive momentum among mid-cap assets, according to ForkLog report.
