Ninth Polkadot parachain auction ends; HydraDX wins

HydraDX, a cross‑chain swap protocol, won the auction for the ninth Polkadot parachain slot. Users locked more than 2.46 million DOT in support, worth $50.65 million.

The HydraDX slot was awarded in the second round of Polkadot parachain auctions. The leasing period for winners will begin in March 2022. Rights to integrate into the mainnet have already been won by four projects: Efinity, Composable Finance, Centrifuge and HydraDX.

The network snapshot to determine the ninth winner was taken on February 9. At the time of the snapshot, more than 2.44 million DOT were locked in support of HydraDX. The nearest competitor — Interlay — stood at about 2.03 million DOT.

The first round of parachain auctions ended in mid-December 2021. The winners were Clover Finance, Parallel Finance, Astar, Moonbeam and Acala.

Earlier in January 2022, the Astar smart-contract platform attracted $22 million in a strategic round of investment.
